Mission and Vision

According to Dr. Tran Viet Hung – Founder of STEAM for Vietnam, the organization aims to help Vietnamese students have the opportunity to access STEAM education early, thereby opening up great successes in the future. Mr. Hung emphasized that if fully equipped with STEAM knowledge, students will be able to integrate and compete with the world, becoming global leaders in the technology field.

Generative AI (GenAI) Research Program

STEAM for Vietnam is constantly expanding its advanced and latest educational programs. Among them, Generative AI (GenAI) is one of the organization’s important researches. GenAI has the ability to help teachers unlock the potential in lesson planning, grading, and personalizing learning content for each student. In addition, GenAI can also support teaching assistants, translation, and create rich educational content.

Currently, the application of GenAI in education in Vietnam is still relatively new. However, many teachers have proactively learned and applied GenAI in their daily teaching work. STEAM for Vietnam has for the first time launched a GenAI training program specifically for teachers, to help them make the most of this technology in teaching.

Program to Unlock Teachers’ Potential with GenAI

STEAM for Vietnam has built an in-depth training program of 6 lessons to help teachers master the skills of using Generative AI in teaching:

  • Standard Prompt writing techniques and drafting teaching plans with GenAI.
  • Create detailed lecture content with ChatGPT.
  • Design 2D game storylines and characters, creative lecture slides with GenAI.
  • Create matrices, tests and personalize student assessments with GenAI.
  • Automate daily tasks with AI assistants.
  • Use AI responsibly and ethically.

This is the first national-scale program to popularize GenAI knowledge for teachers in Vietnam. With more than 8,000 teachers registered from 63 provinces and 4,300 schools, the program is making great strides in applying AI in education. After completing the course, teachers will become GenAI knowledge transmitters for colleagues and students at schools.

Support from the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET)

At the meeting between STEAM for Vietnam and the MOET, the Ministry’s representative expressed strong support for this program. Director of the Department of Primary Education – Mr. Thai Van Tai, emphasized that the program will be a valuable resource for schools to effectively implement digital citizenship skills education, and especially the application of AI in teaching.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thanh, Director of the Department of Secondary Education, hopes that the GenAI program will serve the teaching staff practically, thereby helping them to understand AI more deeply and apply it in the long term in teaching work.

The Department of Teachers and Educational Administrators is also building a digital competency framework for the teaching staff. Therefore, STEAM for Vietnam’s development of a common program on GenAI will help meet modern standards in education.

The Importance of AI in Future Education

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son said that the education sector is actively promoting STEAM and AI in schools. He emphasized the importance of training teachers so that they have the necessary skills and knowledge in exploiting AI tools.

The Deputy Minister also requested relevant units to coordinate to develop a detailed AI curriculum and research solutions to apply AI to teaching safely and effectively.
